Rango, a pet chameleon who has been trained to play the role of a sheriff in a toy playset, finds himself lost in the real world. He stumbles upon the town of Dirt, which is plagued by a severe water shortage and a band of outlaws known as the "Rat Pack." The town's sheriff, a wise old bloodhound named Ben, is missing, and the townsfolk are in dire need of a new lawman. Rango, with his quick wit and sharp tongue, steps up to take on the role of sheriff and sets out to solve the mystery of the missing water and the Rat Pack's involvement.
