The game takes place in feudal Japan, during the Sengoku period. The story follows Yusuke, a young man who becomes the Onimusha, a powerful demon-slaying warrior. Yusuke's goal is to rescue a princess named Yuki from the clutches of the evil Oni, supernatural creatures from Japanese mythology.
