Despite these early efforts, the transgender community has faced significant struggles and marginalization. According to a 2020 report by the National Center for Transgender Equality, 33% of transgender individuals have experienced homelessness at some point in their lives, and 24% have been arrested at least once. Furthermore, transgender individuals are often excluded from healthcare, employment, and other services due to discriminatory policies and practices.
