The film tells the story of Veer (Shah Rukh Khan), an Indian truck driver who falls in love with Zaara (Preity Zinta), a beautiful Pakistani woman. Their love blossoms, but their happiness is short-lived as they are separated by the India-Pakistan border and the animosity between the two countries. Veer goes to great lengths to find Zaara and eventually, they reunite.
