The movie tells the story of Surinder "Surie" Sahai (played by Shah Rukh Khan), a 40-year-old TV reporter who feels trapped in his monotonous life. One day, while on assignment in Goa, he meets a beautiful young woman named Tania/Raabha (played by Katrina Kaif). After a chance encounter, Surie and Raabha get married, but their relationship is not like a typical marriage. Raabha suffers from a rare psychological disorder that causes her to experience life in a fantasy world.
